Someone Somewhere

After my recent break up, i pick up this CD again and listen to Jennifer Warnes singing about looking for her love one. And then I wonder, where is he hiding from me in this big city of Hong Kong.

(Andrew Kastner, Larry McNally, Max Gronenthal)

Must be a million boys living in this great big city
I know that one of them is just right for me
I've looked uptown, downtown, all around searchin'
I know he's out there waiting for me

I know somewhere, somebody, lookin', longin'
Somewhere, somebody, waitin' for me
Somewhere, somebody, searchin', prayin'
Tell me where in the world

You know the street lights shine in passin' faces
I'm just tryin' to catch somebody's eye
But all the shoulda been's, the woulda been's,
the mighta been's and the coulda been's
Slippin' away and just walk right on by

Somewhere, somebody, lookin', longin'
Somewhere, somebody, waitin' for me
Somewhere, somebody, searchin', prayin'
Tell me where in the world

I walk in the rain that's fallin'
A voice in the distance callin', why
I run to the empty doorway waitin' for the sun to shine
When will love be mine

I know that somewhere, somebody, lookin', longin'
Somewhere, somebody, waitin' for me
Somewhere, somebody, searchin', prayin'
Tell me where in the world

Must be a million boys living in this great big city
I know you're out there waiting for me

Who the hell is Bucks Fizz? 4 May 2008

This is the first question my friend asked me when he saw me in the morning before anything cross his mind.

My friend just moved to London about a year ago and he is a Canadian. Without the 80's Brit-pop history in mind. He thinks I must be crazy when his eyes caught all the CD I bought which now laying on the dinning table.

Four BF album, Bucks Fizz, Are You Ready, I Hear Talk and Hand Cut , all under their RCA period were re-mastered and added with some remixes and rare recordings.

It is difficult to find and good to see it in London

Nice to meet her again 21 Dec 2006

Today I browsed thru the CD shop and come across the special priced DVD section. I picked up an Electric Light Orchestra Zoom live concert which recorded in CBS Televsion City in Los Angeles back in 2001. I fliped over it and started reading the song list and names. All of a sudden a name caught my eyes and I felt the hair at the back of my neck all spiked up. Goose pimpel crawled over my body. Next I headed to the cash register with the DVD in my hand.

Rosie Vela - A long lost singer and once super model turned singer. She released her one and only superb CD in the late 80's and vanished. The CD called Zulu and produced by long time producer of the duo Steely Dan, Walter Becker. The sound recording of the CD known as one of the best recordings CD of the 80's. All nine songs from the CD were such wonderful craftmanship from Rosie and Walter. A very minor hits Magic Smile made top 40 in UK. She had finished a 2nd CD but due to the economic crashed in the 90's, the CD never saw the light. Many of her fans were so yearning to listen to it cos rumors said the 2nd CD is even better than her debut one. Well, I am one of those who feel deeply disappointed.

You have to listen to her Zulu CD yourself, then you will admitted that I have not lied. Unfortunately the CD was out of print in the 90's. Though not a million seller and no recored company intended to re-release it of it. But you can try your luck in Amazon.

Back to the DVD. Rosie act like a green leaves in the concert. With a long black dress standing gracefully right next to ELO's front man Jeff Lynne and doing back up for the whole concert. She still keep her curly long hair exactly like the same on her CD cover. Ocassionally twisting her still model's devil body, swinging her hip and hands, such elegent move! She looks stunning to me.

Sorry Jeff, she stole the show from you!

Kim Wilde - Never Say Never 01 Nov 2006

This is what I post in Kim Wilde mailing list:

Dear All Wilde Fans,

Owning the latest CD from Kim for quite awhile, always promise myself that I must show my view here and being lazy is my only lame excuse.

Got the deluxe version from my german friend, very happy to have the DVD with the latest video from You came (2006), also an interview with Kim, she's brilliant!

My colleague got me the Japanese edition. Though it's only a single CD version, am still happy to own one more copy of it.

Okay, about the music. I guess many has shown their view here and I'm not gonna change any of your mind. We just share our view here!

14 songs on the single CD with 8 new songs. I think the new one are all excellent. Perfect Girl remind me of Kids in America, especially those ah oh, ah oh,... totally awesome. A good choice for the new single. Another choice would be Forgive Me, I fly or Game Over. Maybe I'm crazy in fact was my favorite when it came out together with You Came (2006) in August. Had this song been released in the 87' period, it would have been another huge hit like Never trust a stranger. This is a hay day of her music direction. Only too sad to say the main stream music nowadays isn't like it anymore, but who cares! Kim is still Kim, no one can replace her.

For the new re-arrange old songs. I can't say I don't like it. Only the original are too good to overcome. I like the gimmick of Nena duet on You keep me hangin' on. Would be more fun to change some german lyrics, might have been refused by Holland-Dozier-Holland? Charlotte Hatherley on Kids in America is another highlight. Really like when she sings her own hit "Kim Wilde" Four Letter Word has been my most favorite of Kim Song, so I found it a wee bit hard to fall for the new mix. First time I hear it I thought it was a mix of "Everybreath you take" and "Another brick in the wall (part II)". Well if it use the sample of this two songs would have been real cool. Cambodia is one of my other big favorite, another hard hit for me.

Am I disappointed for the whole CD? Absolutely Not. It is a great work from Kim and Uwe. They have brought their best efforts as I keep listen to it.

I was very happy to have the chance to meet Kim in her Berlin autograph signing session. After 25 years of knowing and liking her music, it was really a dream come true to talk to her in person. Also want to say hi to those few Kim Wilde fans i met and chat there.

Surprise Surprise! 2 Sep 2006

Just when I want to cry and miss her concert, I end up meeting her in person, talk to her, get her autograph, shake her hand, and eventually have a picture with her!

It was CRAZY! My favourite singer is back and have a picture with me.

You Came - Finally! 31 Aug 2006

Her last recording was a duet with the lead singer of the 80's German group Nena, called "Anyplace, anywhere, anytime" back in 2003 - the song was to commerate the band's 20 years contribution to the music industry. It was top 10 among most European countries and hit Number one in Austria.

Her last recording on her own was a single called "Loved" back in 2001. You'll hear this song in California fitness gym from time to time, It has been mixed with Kylie's "In your eyes" This was probably the works done by Saint Ken.

Her last full length studio recording CD was called "Now and Forever" all the way back in 1995.

Now...here she comes again.

After a hiatus for 11 years. Kim Wilde is finally back with a brand new CD, Her 11th and the most long awaited "Never say never", due to open in 8 September in Germany. A new remix of "You Came 2006" is already released ahead on 18 August. This is the jingle featuring in the commercial from the Germany equivalent to American Idol - "Deutschland sucht den Superstar"

On 2 September, the day I am leaving Berlin, she will be one of the performers in the concert "Stars for free 2006" organize by Berlin Hits Radio. Verdammt! I miss her again, I really wanna cry! But of cos, I am very glad to know she is back!

"Never say never" will be produced by the german team Joern Uwe and Fahrenkoog Peterson who also responsible for the german band Nena. Kimwilde dot com will give you more news.

When we were young! 27 Jul 2006

The other day I walked with my friend to the record shop in Ocean Terminal. I was totally surprised to find this CD from one of my favourite 80's group. My friend said it was very expensive but I think it's really worth the price. A double CD with all of their hits singles, though I already own all the songs in many different greatest hits complilation CD. The songs here are all newly remastered. Some even with a newer version. Disk two contain some 12" remixes and rare track from side B of their hit singles.

They won the Eurovision in 1981 for Great Britain. I was still in school by then. Like many teenage today, we all have our pop idol. Only I think those teens idol at that time still can really sings. And Bucks Fizz are definitely one of them.

Picks: If you can't stand the heat...London Town...Now those days are gone...One of those nights...Where the ending starts...Golden days...I hear talk...My camera never lies...New beginning...

Listening to those great songs...then I remember those good old days...WHEN WE WERE YOUNG

For Sentimental Reasons 5 Jul 2006

Standing in front of the post office,

With a tiny parcel in my hand

Hesitated for a long while before my courage came to open it

Just a CD I ordered from the net

Rational me for a long time suddenly back to my Pisces' nature.

Eyes fill with tears and blur my sight

She past away last year, left us some unreleased recordings.

Someone complied this mini CD

REMEMBER ME - LB

If you want to know who was she, I started to write my diary here because of her, read my very first diary.

Sandy and Me 9 April 2006

I must say I was speachless!!! She was really nice and really sweet.

Happened to join an event in Honolulu, Hawaii that Sandy Lam was the special guest for entertaining. During the rehersal, I tried to ask her for a picture. She rejected me and I could understand that she need to be in good condition and did not want to be distracted. So I smiled and say thanks.

Afterwards I bumb into her manager, she was also very nice to explain that it was not a good time to ask for picture. I told her that I understand it very well and mentioned I was a big fan of Sandy.

During the actual concert, Sandy was marvelous. The whole audience was falling into her beautiful voice. Every georgous move she make can make a commotion. I had a short opportunity to chat a few words with her manager. Silly me asking for a second version of Sandy lastest CD with a few remix songs. hahahaha!

I was not allowed to stand close to the stage, so I stand alone in a corner not far from the stage. One time, Sandy walked to the side and I waved to her, I swear to God that I was the only one who waved, and Sandy recognized my face in the afternoon and waved back to me.

Right after the last song, I know the escape way of Sandy so I took my last chance for a picture with her. I waited there about 10 feet away. She was showed to enter a resting room. Her body was half way past the door, but she backed up and used her super sweet voice to ask if I still want the picture. OF COURSE, I said yes and run to her.

There you go was the this result of the first picture of Sandy and me!
Sandy, you are really nice to us!

New Luck Era!

Do you know what is this?

Das bin ich!

Cest Moi!

It's me!

Shi Wo!

Patricia Kaas Live in Hong Kong 18 May 2005

Nothing is flawless in the world. But if I say Elizabeth Stadium has really crap sound system, I doubt if anyone will against me. 20 sceonds after Patricia started singing, came a big noise cracking from the giant speaker.... What's wrong with you guys who work there????

But Patricia gave an excellent performance. She knows that we love her, and we know that she does her best to show our audience. This cycle generated a perfect atmosphere inside the stadium. She sings, we clap; she stopped, we cheered; she speaks, we laugh; she make every one joining in the show and be part of it. Of cos, ocassionally i saw people just sit there and cross their arms in front of the chest while every one was joyfully dancing with the rhythm and clapping above their head.

I really enjoy this concert. She sang two songs I really like "Il Me Dit Que Je Suis Belle" and "Une Fille De L'est".

Even the french speaking chinese friend, who never heard of Patricia Kaas before, whom i dragged him to keep me in company, stood up and danced most of the time.

Dianne Reeves Live in Hong Kong Shatin Town Hall 19 Jan 2005

It was marvelous, wonderful, superb, fantastic, awesome, overwhelming, phenomenal! One of the best of the best concerts I attended in recent years!!!!!!

Thanks Dianne.......love

(Originally written in 16 September 2004)

I just knew from the internet that my favourite american singer from the 80's was died in August 30 of aneurysm at age of 47.

Maybe you are not familiar with her songs. She had such a powerful vocal with hits like Gloria, The Lucky one, Solitaire, How am I supposed to live without you.... She brought us so many once neglected European hits to the North American market and to the world. She recorded Jennifer Rush's "The Power of Love" way before Celine Dion did it.

Her greatest song to me was Self Control. A definetly very gay welcomed songs in 1984. It is also the best selling single in Germany that year.

Her voice was always remind people of Donna Summer. I had once find a remixed version of "Dim all the light" which mixed Laura verison into Donna Summer original song. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!!! Ask me, I will send a copy to you.

Her last studio CD was called "Over My Heart" which for the very first time she co-wrote many songs and even acted as an executive producer of the album. Brilliant album! Again another superb European hits was also picked, "Mujer contra mujer" Beautiful song!!!!! Original from the (now dis-band) spanish group - Mecano. You can never miss it! Cos it is a lesbian song. (Another Mecano hits "Hejo de la Luna" was recorded by Sarah Brightman.) Lovely song.

My hat off for my beloved Laura. May you rest in peace!
